Dunedin Lawyers Do More Than Work on Cases!

The lawyers at Roman & Roman Law are busy these days, and not just with their casework. A Dunedin attorney or two will be present for a bunch of local events in the next couple of months, including the 2012 Gary Gordon Memorial Armed Forces Championships and the 2nd Annual Kiwanis Pro’s and Joe’s Ribfest.

The Gary Gordon Memorial Armed Forces Championships

The 2012 Gary Gordon Memorial Armed Forces Championships — held on Saturday, September 22, — is a powerlifting competition held in the Jackson Springs Recreation Center, in Tampa, FL. The championships will feature about 50 contestants — including Dunedin attorney Thomas A. Roman — all competing in different weightlifting categories.

Weigh-Ins begin at 7 a.m. Entry fees are waived for members of the United States Armed Forces, including active duty personnel, reservists, guardsmen, and veterans. More information is available on the Raw United website.

The Gary Gordon Memorial Armed Forces Championships are held in honor of Master Sergeant Gary Gordon, a posthumous Medal of Honor recipient who was Killed in Action in Somalia, 1993, during the Battle of Mogadishu. Gordon and fellow serviceman Randall Shughart were the first soldiers to receive the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. The actions of both men are depicted in the film Black Hawk Down (2001).

The 2nd Annual Kiwanis Pro’s & Joe’s Ribfest

On Saturday, November 3, the Dunedin lawyers at Roman & Roman Law are sponsoring the 2nd Annual Kiwanis Pro’s & Joe’s Ribfest at Edgewater Park, in Dunedin, FL. The Ribfest will feature amateur chefs (Joes) and chefs from local restaurants (Pros), all competing in their respective categories to grill the best ribs. Events begin at 11:30 a.m. and run until 2:00 p.m.

There will also be a “Strongman Demonstration” going on the day of the Ribfest, during which the Dunedin lawyers from Roman & Roman Law — as well as members of Tampa Bay Strongman Training — will exhibit the feats of competitive weight lifters. Dunedin attorney Thomas A. Roman, 2007 Florida State Champion Strongman, Master’s Class, will also be involved in the demonstration.

Proceeds of the Ribfest will go to the Kiwanis Foundation, Inc., which will disperse the funds to local school programs like “Terrific Kids” and activities like “Head Start.” Funds will also go to the “Dunedin Spraygrounds – Every Child a Swimmer” community program. Ticket prices for the 2nd Annual Kiwanis Pro’s & Joe’s Ribfest are $15 for Adults and $10 for Children under 12. Tickets can be purchased and picked up at the offices of Roman & Roman. Check out the event’s Facebook page for additional ticket locations.
